Kibale National park offers excellent forest birding with 335 bird species you have opportunities to see some key species e.g. Green breasted pita, White napped pigeon, Masked & Black caped apalise, Abyssinian ground thrush, Red winged warbler etc.
Uganda’s rain forest , gazetted in 1993 from a forest reserve the park is situated in south west Uganda and lies south of the snow capped Rwenzori Mountains.It is bordered by Queen Elizabeth National Park in the south. It is one of the parks which protect a large area of rain forest and holds 12 species of primates. The variety and density concentration of primates is not found anywhere else in East Africa.
The primates of Kibale forest include wild and habituated Chimpanzees, Red colobus, Vervet monkeys, Red Tailed monkeys, L’hoest, Grey Cheeked Mangebay, Galogo etc.Kibale forest is also recognized as an area with a high density of forest elephants but they are rarely seen. Other animals are duikers, bush pigs, buffaloes etc.
